NYC DEP STUDY ON FLUSHING CREEK

The following images and notes are coming from the following link (Flushing Creek Study) and a presentation given by the DEP on the array of existing initiatives that the DEP along with the USACE are overseeing in Flushing Bay and Flushing Creek.

For their study the DEP and USACE took a small chunk of land along the left (west) of the Creek and a larger portion of land along the right (east) side of Flushing Creek.

This slide shows us that the two lakes, Meadow Lake and Willow Lake, weren't on the site until later on when they were dug out years later. Despite this, Flushing Creek has always flown through this area just not through the same "paths." The area that today we know as Flushing Meadows-Corona Park was a land of no-developments. Just a sight for dumping.
